The Engineer-In-Training (EIT) supports the development and execution of water and wastewater opportunities across industrial, mining, remote camp, and municipal sectors. This role is primarily focused on reviewing bid documents, developing technical proposal content, and supporting estimating and project development activities.
The EIT plays a critical support role in a fast-paced, bid-driven environment, working cross-functionally to translate technical requirements into high-quality, competitive proposals. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, hard-working self-starter who takes ownership and thrives under deadlines.
Core Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret RFPs, RFQs, and technical bid packages to identify key technical, commercial, and compliance requirements.
- Extract, summarize, and communicate critical bid information to internal stakeholders.
- Support the development of technical proposal content, including scope definitions, process descriptions, and equipment selections.
- Assist with cost estimating, bid preparation, and project development activities for water and wastewater opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop process concepts, equipment lists, and execution strategies.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain technical specifications, pricing, and lead times.
- Prepare and compile client-facing proposal documentation and submission packages.
- Maintain organized records of opportunities, bid documents, and submissions.
- Support continuous improvement of proposal processes, templates, and tools.
- Contribute to technical evaluations and feasibility assessments of new opportunities.
- Assist with project handoff to operations teams following successful bids.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with APEGA or other applicable governing body.
- 0–5 years of relevant experience (co-op or internship experience considered).
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
