Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily crane operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service delivery to our customers. This role manages scheduling and deployment of crane operators, equipment, and support resources across multiple job sites, while serving as the key communication link between customers, field staff, and internal leadership. The Dispatcher monitors job progress, adjusts schedules in real time, supports regulatory and safety compliance, and maximizes fleet utilization to drive operational performance. Success in this role requires strong logistics coordination, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Core Responsibilities
- Receive and answer emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Schedule and dispatch field staff, crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations according to requests, specifications, or needs, using radio or phone.
- Coordinate messages and information to or from field personnel and supervisors.
- Advise personnel about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards.
- Capacity to trouble-shoot and make quick decisions to address unexpected challenges.
- Manage a real-time transportation database reflecting rates, equipment, fuel surcharges, etc.
Requirements
- Dispatch and logistics experience.
- Proficient in using dispatching software and other relevant tools.
- Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Flexible, able to deal with change.
- Very organized, with excellent multi-tasking skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
