Reporting to the Controller, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the broader Finance team in achieving operational and strategic objectives. This role contributes to month-end close, financial statement preparation, general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and audit readiness. The Corporate Accountant collaborates closely with operational teams, Finance leadership, and external partners to ensure Centurion maintains high standards of financial integrity and compliance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure timely month-end close.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain monthly working papers and financial reporting files, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Oversee processing of payments, including issuing cheques and reviewing vendor invoices.
  • Support cash flow reporting, forecasting, and liquidity management.
  • Support ongoing improvements to accounting operations and internal control systems.
  • Assist in preparation for external audits, reviews, and regulatory filings.
  • Ensure company accounting policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports summarizing income, expenses, and earnings.
  • Analyze variances, investigate discrepancies, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Collaborate with Finance Management to deliver insights supporting business performance.
  • Partner with Operations, HR, and leadership to ensure financial accuracy and aligned reporting.
  • Support financial projects, system upgrades, and continuous process improvements.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professional handling of financial information.
  • Demonstrate Centurion’s values by maintaining professionalism, accountability, and accuracy.
  • Participate in ongoing training, development, and Finance team initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation or actively working toward completion preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant full-cycle accounting experience, gained within a combination of public accounting firms and/or industry roles, preferably in oil & gas, energy services, construction, or other asset-intensive environments.
  • Experience supporting accounting functions in multi-entity, project-based, or operationally complex organizations considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in Financial Planning & Advisory (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and providing decision-support insights to operational and senior leadership teams.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting systems; experience with QuickBooks, Plooto, and a paperless office is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and practical approach to financial issues.
  • Proven ability to build productive working relationships and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
